Winner on and off the track

The Cruze is hardly getting on, yet Naza Quest, Chevrolet’s sole authorised distributor in Malaysia has launched a Special Edition to commemorate its championship win in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC).

The WTCC car dominated the series, racking up numerous race wins and podiums that allowed Chevrolet to clinch the constructor’s championship, with lead driver Yvan Muller, at the wheel. The road car, in Malaysia at least has failed to garner that much success in its class, but with the introduction of the SE we will definitely see a sharp pick up in the Cruze’s sales figures.

What sets the Cruze SE apart is its aggressively styled bodykit that gives it a more sporty appearance. A boot mounted lip spoiler adds a subtle finishing touch, further complemented by the new 18-inch alloy rims. Other exterior changes include wing-mirror mounted LED turn signals and stylish door visors. Inside, the Cruze Special Edition comes with standard leather seats complete with red stitching. The door sills also feature an illuminated Cruze logo.

No mechanical changes are made on the SE, so it retains the standard car’s 1.8-litre engine that produces 139bhp at 6200rpm and 176Nm at 4000rpm. As before, drive is transferred to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic gearbox with shiftronic manual shifts.

Only 300 units of the Chevrolet Cruze SE will be sold by Naza Quest, which ensures exclusivity. The price however is unchanged at RM97,888. All Chevrolets come with a 3-year/100,000km warranty and the new car is now available from the 18 Chevrolet dealers located throughout Malaysia.
