Angka-Tan Motor, a subsidiary of Warisan TC Holding Berhad and sole distributor of Bison trucks has launched its first three new models to start it onslaught on the commercial vehicles market. Manufactured by Beiqi Foton Motor, the trucks are rebranded as Bison Trucks in Malaysia.
Beiqi Foton Motor of China has been the number one brand for light commercial vehicles in China for many years. Angka-Tan Motor full expects the products marketed under the local brand of Bison to take off effectively as they have been recognised globally. They are looking at a total industry volume for trucks and buses of around 16,000 units a year, of which, 80 per cent is accounted for by the light trucks (LCV) segment with a GVW of 5000 kg and below.
Speaking at the launch, Executive Director of Warisan TC Holdings Berhad, Mr. Ngu Ew Look said, “As we are a new start -up, we are targeting to capture a 5 per cent market share in the initial year of operation for the LCV and will continue to make our presence felt for the heavy commercial vehicle segment when we launch the heavy duty trucks towards the second half of this year (heavy commercial vehicles with Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) between 12,000kg to 26,000kg and prime movers of up to 50,000kg).”
The Bison BJ1039, BJ1049 and BJ1069 are available at all 20 Angka-Tan Motor dealerships nationwide for RM56,000 for the 4,800kg model, up to RM 83,000 for the 8,300kg model. Customers would be backed by a strong after sales network with service centres nationwide and a 24 hour standby Res-Q team for breakdowns across any location within Peninsular Malaysia.
